Mac Report - Talking sMac (Part 1)
Don’t get me wrong– overall– I’m digging my Mac. It’s a refurbished G5 iMac (like I said, I’m settling…) and pretty awesome with it’s 20-inch screen and what not.
My two complaints so far:
- There’s no way to actually turn off the dashboard wigit-having thingamajiggy. You just sort of have to not use it. Or in my case, I just keep the damn thing off the internet. The point is that it’s lame. It should be a choice. (If I could prove it, I’m sure it’s collecting data [interests, habits, etc.] on me and sending it off into the void. I don’t actually know this; I’m really just making this up as I go.)
- Now this REALLY annoys the shit out of me: My external video option? It only MIRRORs my desktop and doesn’t extend it. What the fuck is up with that? How ANNOYING. What the hell kind of good does that do me? Am I carrying around my iMac and making presentions? Do I own a projector? NO! So this just adds up to: seriously A N N O Y I N G. The only way to fix it is some patch that would void my warranty. EVEN MORE ANNOYING. In principle. Uggh! UggH!! UGgh!!! UGGH!!!!
Maybe I’m recalling this incorrectly (I’m not known for my great memory), but does anyone remember the good old days when Apple claimed to be JUST FINE without Intel? All their propaganda was always so aloof and terrific without them. Now, they’ve reprogrammed us to believe they’re now so awesome WITH Intel? It’s like 1984’s “newspeak”… rewriting history… And they get away with this? Totally unaccountable? As though it never happened? Because why? They’ve come up with some kick ass gadgets, pretentious advertising, and sleazy hipster-driven marketing? Ew.
Again, I’d totally make out with Steve Jobs. He’s doing it right. I admire his genius of many levels. He finally stepped up and did what it took to play along with Bill Gates and his shenanigans. He’s playing the game, and playing it well.
