for all you hataz out there… i finally got a Mac.
So for those of you who highly recommended I get a Mac: Congratulations. You win. I finally purchased a system for Final Cut– arriving this week. No more borrowing Coots’ laptop. No more commutes and favors for basic operations. And no it’s not the $7.5K system I always wanted (I had previously stated that I wouldn’t invest in a system unless it was the one I wanted. Alas, I am settling to be practical). But hey, mission accomplished. I’ve finally sucked it up and crossed over to the other side.
NOT FULLY however. I refuse to base any and all fancy purchases on Apple’s dictate. For one who always embraces the underdog (to a fault), why don’t I love Apple? I do. But for the sake of always being contrary, I refuse to indulge in their antics. Maybe when I can afford it, I will. Maybe when I stop having epileptic fits when being informed I NEED Apple, I will. Maybe when they’ve taken over my will to live, I will.
To that end, I STILL haven’t gotten an iPod. Of that, I am proud. Previously I had depended on my DellPod MP3 player and you know what? It did a damn good job and filled a void that needed to be filled, so whatever. Who cares that it isn’t an iPod (I only cared when said epileptic fits were incurred by trendies with mom-sponsored iPod nanos. I suppose if my mom supplemented my lifestyle, my feelings on the matter would vary).
In my journey to avoid Apple, I’m totally geeking out on my new PHONE instead! Sadly, it does have iTunes (grumble grumble) BUT it’s still super cool. Yay! Boris is counting down the days until I break it.

As one of the Apple pushers to whom you refer, I would like to state unequivocally that I don’t have any problem with Windows machines. I have one myself (bi-technical). That said, Apple is the fastest, most stable system for editing video. It also has wonderful firewire port for attaching video decks and harddrives drives.

Thanks, Steve. Yes, we’ve discussed many times the PC-blood that pumps through our veins. Now I too am bi-technical. Lord have it not be the end of me….
