This has been the craziest ROCKSTAR week! And to top it all off, I gave Jimbo (and the Knockdown South) my card and told him I wanted to make his next video! He can play the shit out of the guitar for a skinny white boy, let me tell ya.
It all started with going to Bar 4 with Vanissa last week and seeing Jeff Jeff Jeff (okay, I was too late for his show), Jesse Robertson, Joe, Nico and Pete. The next night we went to Trash Bar and saw In Pencil and Bo Bim (Tony totally recognized me from myspace!). On Friday, Emily and I saw the Black Lips and their opening band at the Magnetic Field in Brooklyn.
THEN Travis from The Public visited from New Orleans. I met all these evacuees from Katrina including the bass player from White Zombie who has a new band called the Rock City Morgue. Saturday nite we visited the Bushwick Arts Project which was totally insane and reminded me of the days when I went to BluHouse at the American Building in Hattiesburg. I also saw some bands at the Life Café and the Wreck Room, but more notably went to a loft on Johnson Ave and saw the opening bands for Quintron.
Also, Liquid Metal Media is officially working with Greg Greene on his next documentary, Escape from Suburbia. He’ll be shooting off and on from December to August of next year. Since Greg is based in Toronto and not always able to hop down here last minute, we’ll be on call do shoot for him here in the city. Just tonight I went to a debate on Peak Oil, Permaculture, and other stuff. The whole thing is a real blast from the past of my good ole greenie days in college. Greg bought us beer afterwards, but then he went back to his place and passed out. He’d been shooting all day. I like Canadians.
