Project Update 11.1.05 - Hip Hopper
Autobiography: Dennis Hopper, Thank God For Voices is done. I’m transcribing it later. It looks awesome. Dennis Hopper is mad cool. I’m really excited about it.
Making some progress on Fairy Tail. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks for this short. It’s been put on way side by boys, work, travel, and other projects. But now I’m back (sort of).
I read through Tuesday (straight-to-video action movie) this weekend and tweaked it a bit. I’m in this place where I need someone else to read it– let me know what they really think. I hesitate to work on the business side of it. I’ll give it to someone to read on occasion but that’s it so far. I love the project; there are other things I want to get out of the way before I launch the campaign it will require.
Geldin and I worked on some TV pitches. It was an interesting exercise—they sound like real shows that you’d see on TV. Speaking of TV, I dug into Lullaby Anne (the vampire show) a bit. I met a South African (where it’s set) who’s super cool. She wants to read the treatment and maybe help me out with the history and cultural setting. The idea is big, so it’ll take research and more than just me to fully develop it to the extent it deserves. Which is why I like it… but is also why it simmers in my head instead of winding up on paper.
I was going through my drawers and found this project I had called “Corporate Whore” that I always wanted to animate. Live action, a lot like Jack Quack, except 2D. I can’t even describe it… it’s a series of papers I printed on the color printer at my old day job on top of a Xerox of my face. I would take pictures of it like a cartoon’s frame… It’s really late. I can’t explain.
I finally sent a draft of my big “conspiracy” (a part of my next short film, thriller) outline to my dad. He hasn’t gotten back. My plan has been to concoct the conspiracy itself independent of the story/script, then weave it in a “relevant” way (whatever that means). So now all I need is to get notes back, re write it, send it to more people and get more constructive feedback… and churn it through until it’s where I want it (what people take away from it on this level matters later in what I want the audience to take away). Then I need to make the changes in the script I have so far (about 17 pages), incorporate the conspiracy, and have a script. Then I’ll need money to make it.
My dad works for the government. Maybe he never even GOT my conspiracy. Damn conspiracy filters.
The only thing I didn’t really get to is my feature Memphis Bound. It’s hard to focus and the relationship experiences the characters are having are so far removed from what I’ve been working on it’s very difficult to pull from life.
I still haven’t thrown together my reel. There are technical issues. *sigh*
I did a 30 second film called Rex: An Intimate Portrait. I hope you can see it soon.
Must learn flash. Must learn flash…
Dailies for our short doc 2A now need to be transcribed. I’ll get practice on Hopper.
