TIME WARP - the new year 04
It’s the New Year, of which you are surely aware. I never make resolutions, primarily because I hate New Years and better yet, HATE resolutions. But this year I wish to better focus on my screenwriting endeavors, catch up on celebrity gossip, and stalk people I like.
I feel refreshed to know that I do not owe my anesthesiologist eight-hundred bucks, but instead thirty-five. My knee surgery hasn’t been wrecked yet. And my sister doesn’t know her way out of a closet; much less her way around New York City and this has inspired my next script idea: Princess of New York.
Buds, in its second draft, is still on the way—Yay! Southern Trash is on hold in a “rough draft” stage. I’m brainstorming ideas for Princess of New York as the character arcs, scene ideas, and adventures/set pieces are clear and abundant. I’m redeveloping an old idea called Bias and brainstorming ideas for a chick-revenge flick. And just for the heck of it I’m going to send out queries for Mother’s Little Pill.
That’s an update on my feature scripts.
I have three new sketches in the works. Those would be in addition to the 3-4 I have in my portfolio. Though most may find my humor to be sick and fatalistic at times, I still want to write out my ideas and submit them (“Black Ass” and “Terror Air” went out two times last month—Did you know Lorne Michaels has a hand in launching a Nation Lampoons cable channel??) I also have another draft coming on my short thriller, “The Roommate”.
That’s an update on my short scripts.
For production, I’m still waiting on “Jack Quack” to make headway in post (my editor is being killed by some crazy documentary). I need to initiate post for “Thugs” for which I need sound and three pick-ups. “Fairy Tail” will still be shot despite our set-back in Nov. ‘03. And I’m currently compiling my “trailer” for Buds (no, I’m not one of those wacky filmmakers who will go out and shoot 30 scenes to make an elaborate trailer when I might has well have shot the damn feature. I have a better idea.)
One more thing: I have a kick ass idea for a feature we can shoot for no money, few crew, and over the course of several weekends. I am aware of the fact that this is impossible, that’s why I can figure my way around it. It’s all in the writing.
