Young thoughts…
I believe we all evolved to have different ways of thinking for a reason. I think before our stationary agricultural “civilized” existence, there was actually a place for the one who can concentrate, the one who can not, autistic folks, etc. I hate using films as reference when I write like this, but The Cube probably embraces this way of seeing things. Even Lord of the Flies. I mean– yes, even in humans you are allowed to have competition– survival of the fittest (unfortunately to the victim’s parents, of course), but what we now consider weak or not socially viable somehow is in fact the very thread that keeps the patchwork of society in tact.
Is this suggesting we should not care for our week or heal the sick? This I feel I can answer with a confident “heck no”. It’s in our nature to me humane. Besides, other species of animals
Does this suggest we should allow murder or public floggings? I think Shakespeare best grasped the fickle masses. However, lumped with a controlled information base, such as government, religion, science, or business it is impossible to be objective.
Does it all begin with not being able to stand insecurity? Is it not in our nature to go with the flow or is it cultural? Why does nearly every tribe, village, state or country have either science, religion, government or all three? Must we label things, force a hierarchy, or categorize everything? Have an explanation or excuse for everything? I do.
Why can’t we jut live and die without questions asked. DO we blame the industrial revolution for our problems or agriculture? Why was agriculture so slow to catch on and was the industrial revolution successful because one group had to compete with others so it just snowballed into what is capitalism and the United States?
We will never relax and just say, fuck it; we’ll see what happens next and live with it. The whole concept of “insurance” is based on our inability to trust the universe. And it’s our arrogance and vendetta against the universe that has wronged us to lead us down the path of self-destruction. The very one that has us tapping o our fossil fuels before seeking alternative. Or depleting the rainforests altogether before our cures for cancer are ever discovered and our air is too hard to breathe.
Is it true that in the end, the winners of the competition after competition after competition for money and displays of genetic superiority will win over what is truly competitive genetically? Or will instincts rule? Or will Bubba and his 10 kids on welfare with a bomb shelter full of guns, ammo, and canned foods win despite the selective measures our once-trusted government will use the day doom descends upon us.
I dread writing in questions, since it usually hints no solution. But it’s the fin line we humans have crossed that make us the will bearing, technologically advanced creatures that we are, that will also lead to the elimination of Homo sapiens.
Life will go on with or without us– it will. It’s up to us to choose whether we want to live or die and I choose to live through my progeny. And I have to write crap like this to aid in my personal goal to perpetuate my genes in the cess pool of genetics we’ve allowed ourselves to become, then so be it.
