Removing our arts
One thing the masses seem to consistently resist is the attempt at systematically removing our arts. For example, in the western world there has been a shift with what we are educated on and what we’re doing in our free time. In the old days, our curriculums were rich with art, music, athletics, math, literature and science. Now, everything from threatening the NEA to alleged budget problems are hitting our schools harder and harder each year. In my generation, by the time I got to high school physical education wasn’t even required anymore, recess is getting cut down to mere minutes, and art class costs you money. All of these things are outlets for physical and thoughtful energies. Now most kids are babysat by television and junk food. However, I think the most subtle movement is backlash from efforts to take these things away.
